Stay One Step Ahead of Cybercriminals – EDWARD JONES
Written by hpl on September 4th, 2026

Cybercriminals are after your money. They’re getting smarter and increasingly using AI. But you can stay a step ahead.
Scammers often troll for consumers; it’s called phishing. Be cautious of unexpected emails, texts or calls. And verify requests through a trusted phone number or website before taking action.
Next, strengthen your accounts. Use a unique password for every login and enable multifactor authentication whenever possible. Better yet, choose passkeys or security keys when available.
Scammers create urgency. AI can mimic voices and create urgent messages that appear to come from family members, executives or government agencies. If a request feels rushed or unusual, pause and verify it independently.
Finally, keep devices updated and back up important files. Security updates close vulnerabilities, while backups help you recover from ransomware or other attacks.
Small habits can make a big difference. Take steps to help safeguard your money, identity and long-term financial goals.
